HMS GANGES GOLF SOCIETY HANDICAP SYSTEM

As the Ganges Golf Society only meets four times a year it is not possible to devise a method whereby golf handicaps can offer a fair and unbiased reflection of golf prowess as would be the case when playing regular club golf.

It is the intention to give all members of the Ganges Golf Society the opportunity to have a chance to succeed and more importantly enjoy their day out with oppo’s in the true spirit of the society in line with our constitution.

Therefore, the handicaps that you will receive to start this season is either your declared club handicap or that offered up by yourselves if you do not have a club handicap.

If you win an event, then at the next event you play in you will be deducted two shots from your handicap and if you are runner up you will be deducted one shot. Similarly if you come last or second to last your handicap will be increased by two or one shot accordingly.

In order to avoid slow play, the highest handicap will be set at 36 ( but adjusted by the course slope index) and once you cannot score on a hole you are requested to pick up. You should always endeavour to keep up with the group in front of you and avoid holding up the group behind.

Any anomalies in the handicap system will be considered by your committee and their decision shall be final.

Your handicap below will subsequently be changed taking into account the course "Slope Index" at the clubs we play at. This can result in you getting more or less shots, depending on the difficulty of the course.
